Last January I had a fantastic weekend— fantastic for ANYONE who reads, writes or aspires to be an author! Kathy L. Murphy, the original Pulpwood Queen held court at the beautiful Fredonia Hotel. Authors, publicists, editors galore attended, along with 100+ leopard-clad, tiara-topped readers. We were able to mix, mingle, glean gems of writing secrets, and meet the authors. Panels of authors shared their stories, told about their latest projects and newest novels, and entertained us royally! Friday night we were treated to a delicious Bar-B-Q, served by the authors themselves. Saturday night was the Big Hair Ball where we danced, strutted our leopard and bohemian fashions and once again, visited one-on-one with New York Times best-selling authors. A dream of a weekend! And should you venture to the Fredonia Hotel some weekend, do try the butternut squash soup and lemon chicken. Totally worth the trip!
I’m going again this year. Since last January, I have become editor of a new magazine, FENCEPOST. Kathy and her Pulpwood Queen Girlfriend weekend will be a feature in FENCEPOST which will launch mid-December! Kathy has joined my book club, BRIGHT STAR LITERARY SOCIETY, and our book club has become a new chapter of the Pulpwood Queen and Timber Guys book club, too!
FENCEPOST will be full of interesting articles about YOUR neighbors, your community and events that are happening locally that YOU are interested in. My plan, as editor-in-chief, is to showcase regular people who do good things in and for their communities. It’s going to be one of those magazines that you WANT to have because all the articles inside, the photos, the recipes, the events, are about YOU, your neighbors, your community and the good things happening, like the Sulphur Springs veterinarian who takes care of Arabian horses during their mandatory 30-day confinement before being shipped to Saudi Arabia and the UAE for showing and racing. You might know the ladies from Greenville, TX who take their therapy dogs to retirement homes and cheer up the lives of the residents, or the retired Naval officer who loves Harleys, cooks up gourmet dishes on the road and takes eye-poppingly gorgeous photographs. That and more await you in the first issue of FENCEPOST!
This new adventure is exciting. Join me on my journey as FENCEPOST launches December 15, 2018–and look inside–you will most likely see someone you know! Or certainly someone you want to know. Stay tuned!

Sharon Lamkin Feldt is a multi-talented Pulpwood Queen. She is the leader of our book club in Sulphur Springs, an author, a blogger, and NOW Editor in Chief of FENCEPOST Magazine that will debut in December. Introduced to her by my dear friend Jan Doerr last Girlfriend Weekend she is a whirlwind of activity and the “hostest with the mostest”.
